Linkin Park was Working on New Music Pre-Coronavirus Pandemic

Linkin Park has been understandably quiet on the creative front since the untimely passing of vocalist Chester Bennington, but the band has been working on new music as of late.

In an interview with Dan Nicholl of the online show Dan Really Likes Wine, bassist Dave ‘Phoenix’ Farrell said, “For us, with the band, we’ve been kinda writing and doing that before [the coronavirus pandemic] started, so casually at this point we’re doing Zoom meetings to eat lunch together and say, ‘Hi.’ But we’re not able to get together and write or do that whole bit. So working at home a little bit, working up ideas…I’ve been playing a lot of drums, just to do something new – I’ve been doing that for the last year, year and a half, and purposely making as much noise as possible to create my own space in the house.”

Until this update, the latest activity in the Linkin Park camp revolved around the 20th anniversary of the band’s debut album, Hybrid Theory. In a statement via their social media channels, Linkin Park wrote, “This year we are celebrating the 20th anniversary of ‘Hybrid Theory.’ We have some special things planned throughout the year and want you to be part of it. We’re looking for photos, videos, ticket stubs, merch, flyers, souvenirs and anything else you collected from the early days of the band in the late ’90s through the ‘Hybrid Theory’ era of 2000-2002. Some great examples include (but are not limited to ) live concert footage and photos, pictures of band members and signed goodies from LPU meet and greets.”
