Los Angeles Kings Honor 2Pac With Limited Edition Album And Merch Drop

The Los Angeles Kings are paying tribute to the legacy of the late, great Tupac Shakur. The NHL franchise has released a limited edition of the late rap icon’s 1996 album The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory, originally released under his Makaveli alias, and a range of 2Pac-themed Kings apparel. The merch first went on sale at the Kings’ March 15 game against the Nashville Predators and is now available online in limited quantities.

Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory – LA Kings Edition is pressed on Kings-colored black and silver vinyl and features alternate cover art: photographer Peter Darley Miller’s classic shot of 2Pac wearing his LA Kings hat in 1991, the year the team won its only division championship. The Kings have selected Killuminati track “To Live & Die in L.A.” as one of the songs to be played at Crypto.com Arena for all their home games. The pressing of Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory – LA Kings Edition is limited to 3,000 copies.

The 2Pac-themed Kings merch capsule includes a replica of the rapper’s aforementioned Kings hat created by New Era, now emblazoned with 2Pac’s logo. The photo of 2Pac in his Kings hat is also displayed on new T-shirts designed by Mitchell & Ness. The sports apparel brand has also created 2Pac-branded Kings sweatshirts with the phrase “Kings Never Die” printed on the back.

Originally released on Nov. 5, 1996, Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 664,000 in first-week sales. It has since been certified 4x Platinum by the RIAA. Killuminati was the first 2Pac album to be released posthumously. It was received as an instant classic by fans and critics, including a five-star review in XXL and a sterling endorsement in The Source.
