Earlier this month, LP Giobbi released her remix of Bob Marley and The Wailers’ classic song “Could You Be Loved.” This fresh take on the 1980 hit features a lively house beat and celebrates the 45th anniversary of The Wailers’ album Uprising, which was the last full-length album released during Marley’s lifetime. Uprising is known for its themes of redemption, peace, and religion, making it a favorite among Marley fans worldwide. Even King Charles has named “Could You Be Loved” as one of his top songs.
LP Giobbi has a deep appreciation for Marley’s music. She grew up listening to his songs and learned that they promote peace, unity, and resistance to oppression. This powerful message drew her in and continues to inspire her.
Remixing this iconic track was a bit daunting for Giobbi, given Marley’s legendary status. She usually prefers to use minimal vocals in her remixes, but she felt it was important to keep Marley’s powerful voice in this one.
One surprising aspect of the remix process was discovering how naturally the vocal flows fit together. However, she found that the chorus fell on a different beat than she remembered, which required her to revisit the original song multiple times.
You can now listen to LP Giobbi’s remix of “Could You Be Loved” and experience her unique blend of sounds.
