Ludacris’ 2004 Album ‘The Red Light District’ Gets Vinyl Repress

Ludacris’ fifth album, The Red Light District, is coming to vinyl. DMX, Nate Dogg, Nas, and more appear on the 2004 album, which features production from Timbaland (“The Potion”), Craig King (“Who Not Me”), Salaam Remi (“Virgo”), and others. Originally released on Def Jam Recordings, The Red Light District repress is available for pre-order now.

The Red Light District reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and has been certified platinum twice. It includes several of the Atlanta rapper’s most known songs including the top 10 hit “Pimpin’ All Over The World”; “Get Back,” which reached No. 13 on the Billboard 100; and “Number One Spot,” which samples Quincy Jones’ “Soul Bossa Nova”; the song’s music video is a tribute to Austin Powers. Ludacris made a special appearance on Saturday Night Live, performing alongside Sum 41. Later, he collaborated with the band on a rock-oriented version of “Get Back.”

Ludacris followed The Red Light District with 2006’s chart-topping Release Therapy. It was led by the No.1 single “Money Maker,” which features Pharrell Williams and reinterprets the 1960s Elmore James song “Shake Your Moneymaker”; “Grew Up a Screw Up” alongside Young Jeezy; and “Runaway Love” with Mary J. Blige. “Runaway Love” reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Rap tracks and won Best Collaboration at the 2007 BET Awards. Release Therapy took home the award for Best Rap Album at the 2007 Grammy Awards while “Money Maker” won Best Rap Song.

Ludacris’ most recent solo album is 2015’s Ludaversal, which debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200. Usher, Miguel, Mike WiLL Made It, Big K.R.I.T., Monica, and more all worked with the rapper on the record.
