The latest release from El Viaje (The Journey) by five-time Latin Grammy winner Luis Fonsi, is one that took 16 years to become a reality. And, though a long time has passed since their last collaboration, the magic of two of the most beautiful and recognized voices in the world – Fonsi and 2023’s ‘Latin Recording Academy Person Of The Year’ Laura Pausini – is palpable in the duo’s new single titled “Roma.”

“Roma,” a sublime ballad written by Fonsi together with the song’s producers Andrés Torres and Mauricio Rengifo , was not necessarily a surprise to the public since, at one of Laura’s world tour concerts in the city of Miami Last month, both artists announced the collaboration after improvising to sing “Inolvidable,” one of the Italian artist’s hits. The news soon spread beyond Miami, with the video going viral a few hours later.
What the public didn’t expect was to hear the power of the union of the voices of these great artists, and at the same time the subtlety behind a very romantic lyric. The “Roma” single is accompanied by a video filmed in black and white in an airport with the participation of Fonsi and Laura, plus a group of dancers, all under the direction of the renowned Carlos Perez, Creative Director of Elastic People. “Roma” is the musical gem that tops the list of songs included in El Viaje, Fonsi ‘s long-awaited eleventh studio album, which will go on sale on May 17 at midnight under the Universal Music Latino label.
Other songs that stand out as highlights from the album are “Buenos Aires,” “Pasa La Página – Panamá”, “Santiago”, “La Romana,” and “Marbella” together with the urban artist Omar Montes, among other surprises. In El Viaje, Fonsi explored the different genres that have been part of his musical training in his remarkable 25-year career, which he proudly celebrates with this great production.
