Lynyrd Skynyrd to Host Veterans Benefit Concert at Daily’s Place

Lynyrd Skynyrd is set to perform on November 8 at Daily’s Place in Jacksonville, Florida. This special concert will support St. Michael’s Soldiers, an organization that helps U.S. military families and active service members. The event is called Lynyrd Skynyrd Rocks the Red, White & Blue, marking an unexpected return to their hometown.

In 2022, lead singer Johnny Van Zant had said he didn’t think the band would play in Jacksonville again, stating, “I truly believe we went out on top in Jacksonville.” However, this concert proves otherwise.

Tickets go on sale to the public on August 13 at 10 a.m. Fans who are Jaguars season ticket holders or Daily’s Place club members can buy tickets early starting August 11. This will be the first time Lynyrd Skynyrd performs at a benefit concert, although Van Zant has organized similar events in the past.

The band last played in Jacksonville in 2018 at TIAA Bank Stadium, where they shared the stage with acts like The Marshall Tucker Band, Blackberry Smoke, Charlie Daniels Band, Jason Aldean, and Kid Rock. They ended that night with their classic hit, “Free Bird.” Although they called that show a farewell and documented it in their Last of the Street Survivors: Farewell Tour, they have continued to tour worldwide.

Lynyrd Skynyrd originated in Jacksonville’s Westside in the 1960s and became famous for songs like “Sweet Home Alabama.” After a tragic end in 1977, they released 10 more albums, including the patriotic anthem “Red, White and Blue.” The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2006.
