Next year, a new wave of industrial music is coming your way! Magnetic Eye Records is launching a Kickstarter campaign to fund two tribute albums for Nine Inch Nails. These albums are already in production and are set to be released in November.
The project will feature a fresh take on the iconic 1994 album, The Downward Spiral, along with a selection of tracks from the band’s extensive catalog. The studio work is complete, and there will be a total of 27 tracks spread across the two albums. The artists who will be reimagining these songs will be announced this week.
Magnetic Eye shared, “At a moment when the world’s reliance on machines, algorithms, and artificial intelligence has never been greater, it’s the perfect time to reflect on the emergence of a musical force whose blend of mechanized instrumentation and raw emotion was singular and revolutionary.” This tribute is part of their Redux Series, which has previously reinterpreted works by bands like Soundgarden, AC/DC, Jimi Hendrix, and Jethro Tull. Notable artists like Mark Lanegan, The Sword, Matt Pike, and the Melvins have contributed to earlier projects.
The Downward Spiral was a massive success, selling over four million copies. Trent Reznor’s work with Nine Inch Nails challenged mainstream music and resonated with the feelings of a generation. Magnetic Eye noted, “Nine Inch Nails was the singular, driven musical expression of Trent Reznor. The music he made as NIN has always ranged from infectious to furious, delicate to transgressive.”
This tribute will explore both popular hits and hidden gems from Nine Inch Nails’ catalog. While the tracks are ready, the Kickstarter campaign aims to secure funding for the final production before the November release. Get ready for some exciting new music!
