The soundtrack of the 2018 movie smash Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again is to be released as a double vinyl picture disc for the first time. It’s out on April 1 via UMC/Polydor and can be pre-ordered now, featuring the film’s cover image of the whole cast on disc one, and a scene from the movie on the second disc.
This double LP picture disc set features all sixteen songs from the film’s original soundtrack. They include “When I Kissed The Teacher,” “One Of Us,” “I’ve Been Waiting For You,” and “Fernando,” as well as two extra tracks that were not featured in the movie, “I Wonder (Departure),” sung by Lily James, Jessica Keenan Wynn, and Alexa Davies, and “The Day Before You Came,” sung by Meryl Streep.
The film was the highly successful sequel to the original hit movie of 2008, Mamma Mia!, itself based on the global stage show phenomenon inspired by ABBA’s timeless hits. The musical romantic comedy depicted the much-loved characters from the first film ten years later, on the island of Kalorairi, continuing their story of family and friendship.
Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again reunited Meryl Streep, Amanda Seyfried, Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth, Stellan Skarsgard, Julie Walters, Dominic Cooper, and Christine Baranski, New to the cast were Lily James and Cher, with Alexa Davis, Josh Dylan, Andy Garcia, Jeremy Irvine, Hugh Skinner, and Jessica Keenan Wynn also featuring.
The soundtracks to both films topped charts worldwide, with the original soundtrack achieving platinum status and becoming Universal’s biggest album of 2008. It garnered numerous awards including Best Soundtrack at the Empire Awards and was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Compilation Soundtrack Album for Motion Picture, Television or Other Visual Media. The film won Best Musical at the National Movie Awards.
The second film became the most successful live musical movie sequel of all time and the soundtrack album became an international bestseller, spending an aggregate of five weeks atop the UK album chart.
