Mastodon will release a new album, Marrow Deep, on Aug. 28. It’s the band’s ninth studio record and follows 2021’s Hushed and Grim.
This is Mastodon’s first album without founding guitarist Brent Hinds. He left the band in March 2025 and died in a motorcycle accident in August 2025. Guitarist Nick Johnston has joined the lineup.
Bassist and vocalist Troy Sanders says the band feels renewed and excited to make music together again. “It’s reminiscent of the very beginning,” he says. “We’re hungry, united, and excited to get to work.”
Marrow Deep includes “Your Ghost Again,” a song that honors Hinds. A new single, “Snakes for Dinner,” features Josh Homme from Queens of the Stone Age and is out now.
Mastodon will start a U.S. tour in September to support Marrow Deep. The album art is by Paul Romano.
