Megadeth Announces Final Album Release and Farewell Tour Plans

Megadeth is nearing the end of their journey. The iconic thrash metal band has announced that their next album will be their final one. Led by Dave Mustaine, they will also hit the road for one last tour. Plus, Mustaine is set to release a new memoir in 2026.

Mustaine shared, “Many musicians reach the end of their careers, whether by choice or not. Most don’t get to go out on their own terms, but I feel like I am. I’ve traveled the world and gained millions of fans, and the hardest part is saying goodbye.”

The final album is expected to drop in early 2026, with preorders starting in the fall. The farewell tour will also kick off in 2026 and is expected to last for several years.

“Don’t be mad or sad, be happy for us,” Mustaine said. “Come celebrate with me in the next few years. We’ve created something amazing together that may never happen again. We started a musical style, a revolution, and changed the guitar world. The bands I’ve played in have made a mark on the world. I love you all for it. Thank you for everything.”

Mustaine formed Megadeth in 1983 after leaving Metallica. The band became one of the “Big Four” of thrash metal, alongside Metallica, Slayer, and Anthrax.
