Melissa Auf der Maur, the bassist from Hole, has announced her new memoir, titled *Even the Good Girls Will Cry: A ’90s Rock Memoir*. The book is set to be released on March 17, 2026.
In her memoir, Auf der Maur reflects on the decade that shaped her and her generation, from 1991 to 2001. She shares her experiences in rock bands, giving readers a front-row seat to a vibrant and unforgettable time in counterculture.
“This book is a love letter to the power of music and the unique voices that make the world a better place,” Auf der Maur says. She also emphasizes the importance of the analog era and the magic that has been lost over time. Her goal is to share what her generation witnessed and to inspire a more livable future.
In addition to her time with Hole, Auf der Maur played with The Smashing Pumpkins for a year before starting her solo career. Recently, she reunited with Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan during a concert in June.
Fans of ’90s rock and music history will definitely want to check out her upcoming memoir!
