Metallica Honors Chris Cornell with Vinyl Club Release

Metallica honored the late Chris Cornel with their latest Vinyl Club release that subscribers received this month.

The 7″ vinyl featured live Soundgarden covers of “All Your Lies” and “Head Injury” that Metallica performed at “I Am the Highway: A Tribute to Chris Cornell” in January 2019.

Vicky Cornell issued a statement on the release saying, “Thank you so much to Metallica for the love and appreciation that you have shown for Chris and for memorializing that love, admiration and support from your performances at the ‘I Am the Highway’ tribute on this truly amazing and special vinyl. Joining the tribute concert meant so much to me and my children and to so many fans around the world… And I know how proud Chris would be, not only because you were there as his friends, but also because he was such a huge Metallica fan. Thank you so much and thank you Lars for your very kind words about Chris. It is true that ‘a man is not dead while his name is still spoken.’ Thank you for continuing to honor him.”

As previously reported, Metallica’s Vinyl Club is open to Fifth Member fan club members and costs $49.99/year to join. As a member, you receive a personalized membership card, four 7” vinyl records, and select releases throughout the year including various collectibles like stickers, guitar picks and posters.

The Cornell release marks the fourth 7” vinyl to come out in the first year of the Vinyl Club. So far, there’s no word on whether the Vinyl Club will continue for a second year or not.
