Metallica Shares 2014 Pinkpop Concert Performance Online as Foundation Surpasses $20 Million in Donations

Metallica’s pro-shot footage from their 2014 headlining gig at Pinkpop Festival in Landgraaf, Netherlands, went live on February 7. During their performance on June 9, the band played 16 tracks, letting fans choose the setlist with the shout, “You request, and we’ll play!” The video features their powerful rendition of “Battery” and highlights from their set, including “All Within My Hands,” which started in 2017.

Since then, Metallica’s foundation has raised over $20 million. About $11.4 million has gone to career and technical education programs, including their Metallica Scholars Initiative, which just completed its seventh year. The foundation has also donated more than $7.4 million to combat hunger and over $4.7 million for disaster relief. Plus, every ticket sold contributes to local charities through the organization.

Looking ahead, Metallica has 13 concerts lined up between May and July. They kick off in Athens, Greece, at Olympic Stadium on May 9, followed by a show at Arena Națională in Bucharest, Romania, on May 13. Next, they’ll perform at Stadion Śląski in Chorzów, Poland, on May 19.

Frankfurt’s Deutsche Bank Park will host two shows on May 22 and 24. Then, they’ll take the stage at Stadion Letzigrund in Zürich, Switzerland, on May 27, wrapping up May at Berlin’s Olympiastadion on the 30th.

June starts at Stadio Renato Dall’Ara in Bologna, Italy, on June 3. They’ll play back-to-back nights at Budapest’s Puskas Arena on June 11 and 13, and Dublin’s Aviva Stadium on June 19 and 21. The tour concludes with stops at Hampden Park in Glasgow on June 25, Principality Stadium in Cardiff on June 28, and London Stadium on July 3 and 5. Gojira, Knocked Loose, Pantera, and Avatar will open for them on select nights.
