Metallica Tease ‘Black Album’ 30th Anniversary Reissue

Metallica might have some big plans in store for the 30th anniversary of their landmark self-titled album affectionately known as “The Black Album.”

Eagle-eyed fans and media alike noticed that the band shared a performance video of “Wherever I May Roam” for “Flashback Friday”/#FBF. The video was from a 1992 show in San Diego, and in its caption was the hashtag “#BlackAlbum2021?”

So far, this is the only clue fans have regarding any plans to celebrate the massively successful LP. Back in August 2020, “The Black Album” re-entered the Billboard 200 Album chart and has continued to appear on the chart ever since. As of publishing, “The Black Album” has been on the Billboard 200 Album chart for a cumulative 608 weeks.

Fun fact: Metallica is the 4th longest-charting album in Billboard’s history and the best-selling album of the Nielsen era.

Another fun fact: The three albums that have charted longer than Metallica are Journey’s Greatest Hits (669 weeks), Bob Marley and the Wailers’ Legend (679 weeks) and Pink Floyd’s The Dark Side of the Moon (958 weeks.)
