Michelle Branch Files for Divorce from Patrick Carney After Cheating Allegations

Michelle Branch has filed for divorce from Patrick Carney following cheating allegations against the Black Keys drummer. Additionally, the divorce filing follows Branch being arrested for domestic violence charges for allegedly slapping Carney.

Per TMZ, Branch filed the divorce paperwork on Friday (August 12) in Tennessee citing irreconcilable differences. Branch is seeking primary custody of their two children with Carney having visitation rights. On top of that, she is requesting him to pay for all legal fees.

News broke last week that Branch and Carney were splitting after three years of marriage. In a since-deleted tweet, Branch shared, “Just found out my husband cheated on me with his manager Haley McDonald from Full Stop Management while I was home with our 6 month old daughter.”

Shortly after news of their split broke, we later reported Branch was arrested on domestic violence charges for slapping Carney. Local Nashville police were called to the couple’s home for a “possible domestic disturbance” in the early hours of August 11. In the documents on the incident obtained by TMZ, Branch said she slapped Carney “one to two times.” Carney didn’t have “any visible injuries.” Branch was arrested, and her bail was set at $1,000.

Branch said in a statement to People, “To say that I am totally devastated doesn’t even come close to describing how I feel for myself and for my family. The rug has been completely pulled from underneath me and now I must figure out how to move forward. With such small children, I ask for privacy and kindness.”

Carney has yet to comment on the split, but Branch’s fans came out in force on Twitter. Some of their reactions to Carney’s alleged infidelity can be viewed below.
