Mike WiLL Made-It’s ’23’ Joins YouTube Billions Club

The music video for Mike WiLL Made-It, Miley Cyrus, Wiz Khalifa, and Juicy J’s hit song “23” has surpassed one billion views on YouTube.

The achievement marks Mike WiLL Made-It’s first time reaching the milestone, which the Grammy Award-winning producer spoke on in late July. “So many people told me the obvious hit wouldn’t work in 2013, to still watch it grow 10 years later got me like a proud parent,” he shared in a Twitter post. “Gotta be ready to take risk, I don’t fuck with the normal safe shxt, the… unexpected songs are my favorite joints to produce…”

For Cyrus, Wiz Khalifa and Juicy J, the video marks another notch in their billions-club belt. In 2015, Wiz Khalifa’s song “See You Again” with Charlie Puth became the first hip-hop video to pass the billion mark. Juicy J and Katy Perry’s “Dark Horse” also boasts a billion views, while Cyrus has entered the club twice before, with videos for her songs “Party In The U.S.A.” and “Wrecking Ball,” respectively.

Released in early 2013, “23” was marketed as Mike WiLL Made-It’s debut single, but also featured on Miley Cyrus’ BANGERZ album—it was a prominent part of the setlist on her BANGERZ tour as well. Mike WiLL Made-It is also the producer behind the BANGERZ track “We Can’t Stop.” The video for “23,” directed by Hannah Lux Davis and Michael Illiams, was shot in Brooklyn. A dress code for extras encouraged them to wear their “must wear [their] favorite pair of Jordans.”
