Motley Crue Celebrates 45 Years with North American Tour and Insights into Band’s Origins

Motley Crue has just announced an exciting 33-city tour across North America! This tour celebrates two big milestones: 45 years since the band formed and 20 years since their Carnival of Sins tour. The first show kicks off on July 17 in Burgettstown, Pennsylvania, at The Pavilion at Star Lake. Fans can catch them live until September 26.

Bassist Nikki Sixx shared some nostalgic thoughts on January 17, reflecting on the band’s beginnings in 1981. He posted on Instagram about a rundown house near Lankershim Boulevard in North Hollywood. “That was the house where I showed a 17-year-old Tommy Lee a pile of songs that would later end up on our debut album,” Sixx recalled. It was also where they met Mick Mars and where they spent countless hours dreaming, jamming, and creating music together. They practiced in that small space, trying out different singers until Vince Neil joined the group. Sixx described the four of them as “broke, ratty kids with nothing but ideas and nerve.” It was there that the name Motley Crue was born 45 years ago.

“Proud to be part of this band,” Sixx wrote, thanking Vince, Tommy, and Mick for decades of loud, honest music. The band released iconic albums like Too Fast for Love in 1981, Shout at the Devil in 1983, and Girls, Girls, Girls in 1987, followed by Dr. Feelgood in 1989.

Live Nation will produce the tour, with Extreme and Tesla opening for them. Cities on the tour include Buffalo, Toronto, Tampa, Charlotte, Dallas, Phoenix, and Salt Lake City. The final show will take place in Ridgefield, Washington. Get ready for an unforgettable experience!
