Mötley Crüe has scored a big win in their legal battle with former guitarist Mick Mars. According to the band’s lawyer, the arbitrator ruled in favor of Mötley, dismissing all of Mars’ claims and ordering him to pay damages back to the band.
“This dispute was about protecting the integrity and legacy of one of the most successful bands in rock history,” said Mötley’s lawyer, Sasha Frid. “With the arbitrator rejecting every claim and upholding the agreements, the band has been fully vindicated—legally, financially, and factually.”
Mars initially sued Mötley Crüe in 2023 after he retired from touring in 2022 due to health issues. He claimed that even though he wasn’t touring, he was still a member of the band and deserved compensation. Mars expressed his frustration, saying, “They’re trying to take my legacy away, my part of Mötley Crüe.”
In his lawsuit, Mars also accused the other band members—Nikki Sixx, Tommy Lee, and Vince Neil—of using prerecorded tracks during their 2022 reunion tour, claiming Sixx “did not play a single note on bass” live. However, during arbitration, Mars had to admit under oath that his statements about the miming were false. The arbitrator’s findings confirmed that the band performed live, and Mars recanted his earlier claims.
