The 1980s was a vibrant time for music, featuring a mix of genres like rap, pop, heartland rock, and dance. However, one genre stands out: metal, especially hair metal and glam metal. A new exhibit at the GRAMMY Museum Mississippi, titled ’80s Rock: The Wildest Decade in Music, dives into the reasons behind the popularity of these genres and why bands from that era still have millions of devoted fans.
On September 25, members of Twisted Sister will join a special conversation at the museum’s preopening event, just before the exhibit officially opens on September 26.
The exhibit will showcase a variety of artifacts from the decade. Fans can see Mötley Crüe’s drum kit, an Ozzy Osbourne stage costume, a Def Leppard bass guitar, and autographed memorabilia from Poison. There’s also a guitar played by Ratt, a smashed bass from Guns N’ Roses, a pink bodice worn by Heart’s Nancy Wilson, a drumhead from Warrant, and a guitar and stage outfit from Lita Ford.
In addition to these items, there will be photos from the era on display. Fans can even snap a picture in front of a replica of the Whisky a Go Go, the famous LA club that was the heart of hair metal. Don’t miss this chance to relive the wildest decade in music!
