‘Mr. Jimmy’: New Doc Explores Man Living in Tribute to Jimmy Page

Jimmy Page is the subject of a new documentary, but the doc isn’t necessarily about the Led Zeppelin guitarist, per se.

Titled Mr. Jimmy, this film examines the life of Akio Sakurai, a Japanese man who’s dedicated his life in tribute to Page. He looks like Page and dresses like him, too. Additionally, Sakurai recreates famous looks and performances from the guitar god.

Embedded below, the trailer for Mr. Jimmy shows the actual Jimmy Page taking in a performance. Page is seen giving a standing ovation. He then approached Sakurai and says, “The work — the work that you put in was just incredible.”

Per the film’s website, “Inspired by Mr. Page’s ovation, Akio quits his ‘salary man’ job, leaving behind his family to move to L.A. and join ‘Led Zepagain.’ Soon, cultures clash, and Akio’s idyllic vision of America meets with reality.”

Mr. Jimmy opens on September 1. To find a theater near you screening the film, head to MrJimmyMovie.com.
