My Morning Jacket Announce New Album ‘Is’

My Morning Jacket have announced a new record titled Is. Out March 21 via ATO, the rock band’s 10th album is available to pre-order on vinyl and CD.

The album is led by the single “Time Waited.” The single arrives with a music video, directed by Danny Clinch, that incorporates archival images and performance footage from the group, who formed in 1998. A psychedelic second single, “Squid Ink,” is accompanied by a visually arresting official music video once again directed by Clinch.

The followup to 2021’s My Morning Jacket is produced by Grammy-winning Brendan O’Brien, known for his work with Bruce Springsteen and Pearl Jam. My Morning Jacket frontman Jim James, who has produced or co-produced all of the band’s studio albums since their 1999 debut, The Tennessee Fire, spoke about relinquishing control to someone else.

“Up until now I’ve never been able to let go and allow someone else to steer the ship,” James said in a statement. “It almost felt like an out-of-body experience to step back and give control over to someone who’s far more accomplished and made so many more records than us, but in the end I was able to enjoy the process maybe more than I ever have before.”

In April, My Morning Jacket will host the next edition of their One Big Holiday festival, which has been taking place since 2013. The 2025 event takes place at Seascape Resort, in Miramar Beach, Florida, from April 3-5.

In April, My Morning Jacket will be heading out on a headline US tour, which kicks off in Chattanooga, TN and includes a five-night homecoming run at Louisville Palace. In May, the band will perform at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. The tour picks back up August 5 in Bend, OR and includes a pair of dates at Morrison, CO’s world renowned Red Rocks Amphitheatre and an August 22 show at Berkeley, CA’s famed Greek Theatre. A third run begins October 8 in Washington, DC and includes stops at Atlanta, GA’s historic Fox Theatre and a three-night run at Brooklyn, NY’s Brooklyn Paramount and Chicago, IL’s The Salt Shed. My Morning Jacket will continue its partnership with the environment nonprofit REVERB.
