Nancy Wilson Releases Taylor Hawkins Tribute Song

Nancy Wilson is one of many musicians that was friends with Taylor Hawkins. To honor the late Foo Fighters drummer, the Heart guitarist wrote a song in tribute.

Titled “Amigo Amiga,” Wilson told Consequence of the song, “I heard myself in tears saying ‘too soon too soon’ which became a refrain in the song. I spent quite a few sleepless nights trying to express it all. He was a wonderful friend and we always had funny pet names for each other like ‘Amigo’ and ‘Amiga’ as well as ‘Luv’ and ‘Dahling.’”

Wilson added, “It is such a painful loss — but it also feels like Taylor has galvanized and re-energized rock ‘n’ roll with so many of his musician friends and fans coming together. It’s a new renaissance Taylor and the Foo family have gifted us all.”

This isn’t the first time in recent years Wilson released a song in tribute to a late musician. On her 2021 debut solo album You and Me, there was a song titled “4 Edward,” in honor of Eddie Van Halen.

All proceeds from “Amigo Amiga” will go to MusiCares.

Wilson is taking part in the Taylor Hawkins Tribute Concert tomorrow (September 27) at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles. She’s part of a stacked lineup that includes some of the best rock drummers in the world including Travis Barker, Matt Cameron, Danny Carey, Stewart Copeland, Lars Ulrich, Roger Taylor, Rufus Taylor and more.

There hasn’t been any announcement about the L.A. show streaming anywhere, unlike the London show on September 3.

The London Taylor Hawkins Tribute Concert featured some of the late Foo Fighters drummer’s best friends, biggest influences and peers. Combined, those artists delivered an incredible six-hour show.
