Olivia Rodrigo is over the moon about her new duet with Robert Smith from The Cure. After performing “what’s wrong with me” at the Primavera Sound festival in Barcelona on June 6, she shared her excitement with fans. “I actually cannot believe I got to do [my first feature on an album] with Robert Smith! Somebody pinch me!!!” she exclaimed. Olivia has been a fan of Robert’s music for as long as she can remember, saying it has inspired her deeply.
She also mentioned how lucky she has been to spend time with him over the past year, appreciating his kindness and generosity. “I am in disbelief that this song exists and I cannot wait for it to come out officially!” she added.
The song “what’s wrong with me” is part of Olivia’s upcoming album, you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love, set to release on June 12. The album features two singles that pay homage to The Cure: “drop dead,” which references “Just Like Heaven,” and another track simply titled “the cure.”
Olivia and Robert first performed “Just Like Heaven” together at the Glastonbury Festival last year, where she wore a T-shirt that read, “You know all the words to ‘Just Like Heaven.'” This was a hint at a lyric from “drop dead,” long before the album was announced. Robert even wrote on her shirt, “But do you?” in a fun, fan-friendly way.
