Netflix has announced a release date for a new documentary diving into the life of Tim Bergling, the DJ and music producer known as Avicii, titled Avicii — I’m Tim.
The film presents a look into his life, featuring never-before-seen footage and interviews, with Tim as the narrator.
Netflix has also announced that the documentary will arrive alongside a concert film capturing Avicii’s last show from Ibiza’s Ushuaïa.
Both films are set to arrive on the streaming platform on December 31.
The synopsis for Avicii — I’m Tim reads: “This is the unlikely story of Tim Bergling, a shy and insecure boy who, without realizing it, suddenly created one of the world’s most loved artists — Avicii.
“Through unique home movies and a huge private archive, we get to follow Tim on a winding journey through life — from the very first breath at the maternity ward in Stockholm in 1989 to the tragic end in Oman in 2018. This is a film where Tim himself is the narrator and he shares his inner self in a way we haven’t heard before. Through himself and everyone close to him — family, artist colleagues and best friends — we get to know Tim — the boy behind Avicii — for the first time.”
Last year, Avicii fans across the globe celebrated the 10 year anniversary of his iconic album True. To celebrate the milestone, Pophouse and Universal announced a tribute to the album with the release of unfiltered footage of the album’s creative process, including never before seen clips.
The same date as the album’s initial release just 10 years later, a wide array of content has become available to fans, ranging from short-form pieces tailored for TikTok and YouTube Shorts to in-depth, long-form content that provides an intimate look into the album’s creative process.
As an example, footage from the “True Tour” was released, letting fans re-experience a memorable performance seen from the audience’s point of view. In another segment of the celebratory tribute, unfiltered footage of the making of “Addicted to You” was showcased, including never before seen clips.
