New Podcast Delves into the Rolling Stones’ History and Lasting Impact

The Rolling Stones have a legendary history in modern music, filled with iconic moments and a huge influence on rock ‘n’ roll. A new podcast called Lip Service is diving into that legacy with in-depth interviews. Journalist Simon Harper is talking to key figures from the band’s past, starting with the first episode featuring Andrew Loog Oldham, the Stones’ original manager and producer.

Oldham began managing the band in 1963 at just 19 years old after seeing them perform at Richmond’s Crawdaddy Club. In a one-hour chat with Harper, he shares his early vision for the band, how he shaped their image, the business deals he made, and the mental health challenges he faced during those hectic years. He also talks about producing the Stones’ early hits, despite having no prior experience, and the personal impact of being replaced by American manager Allen Klein.

New episodes of Lip Service will come out every two weeks, featuring a variety of guests, from producers and photographers to current band members. These conversations aim to create a vivid picture of one of music’s most successful groups.

Simon Harper is a lifelong Stones fan and an experienced music journalist. He founded Clash Magazine and has written for GQ, The Telegraph, and more. He created Lip Service to offer a detailed and personal look at the Rolling Stones’ legacy through the eyes of those who were there.
