New songs out this week from Mod Sun, Johnny Marr, Karen O and more.
Mod Sun dropped a new single called “2am.” He says he wrote it on his first trip to Nashville before he moved there. The song is about a night he fell for the city and a girl who showed him her favorite spots — she disappeared when the lights came on and he never saw her again. It follows his May single “Mirror.”
Johnny Marr, former guitarist for The Smiths, released “Ophelia,” a track from his upcoming album The Age of Everything, due Oct. 2. The song draws on the Hamlet character Ophelia, but it’s not a cover of Taylor Swift’s song.
Karen O sings on a new track by The Avalanches called “Blue Shadows.” She says she was thrilled to join their high-energy sound.
GAYLE premiered “loving you is,” which will be on her album Observing Chaos, out Sept. 18. She wrote the song about realizing she deserved better treatment and vowing not to accept disrespect again.
Almost Monday released “better late than never,” from their album THANK GOD IT’S ALMOST MONDAY, coming Sept. 9.
