Nine Inch Nails’ song “The Day the World Went Away” is featured in the trailer for the upcoming film, The Dog Stars, directed by Ridley Scott. This post-apocalyptic movie stars Jacob Elordi as Hig, a pilot, and Josh Brolin as a military survivalist. Together, they have created a secluded homestead in a harsh world. Hig receives a mysterious radio transmission and sets out on a journey to find hope and humanity.
The cast also includes Margaret Qualley, Allison Janney, Benedict Wong, and Guy Pearce. The Dog Stars is set to hit theaters on August 28, and you can check out the trailer on YouTube.
“The Day the World Went Away” comes from NIN’s 1999 album, The Fragile. This track was also used in the trailer for the 2009 movie Terminator: Salvation. Trent Reznor, the band’s frontman, has a strong connection to film, having composed several award-winning scores with his bandmate, Atticus Ross. It’s interesting to note that a movie called The Dog Stars didn’t feature a song from Dogstar in its trailer.
