Nita Strauss, the guitarist for Alice Cooper, is now a new mom! She and her husband, Josh Villalta, welcomed their first child, a baby boy named Maxwell James Villalta, on May 28. The couple shared their joy in a recent interview and posted adorable photos of Maxwell on Instagram.
Nita described the early days of parenthood as both exhausting and rewarding. “We’re in the full-on newborn trenches, running on fumes and figuring it out as we go,” she said. “But it’s the most fulfilling time of our lives.” She added that becoming a mother has already been the best thing she has ever done.
Josh explained the meaning behind their son’s name, saying, “Whatever he does in his life, we hope he does it to the max!” Maxwell’s middle name, James, honors Nita’s father, musician James Strauss. Nita shared that giving birth was the hardest thing she has ever done, but it was worth it. “When they put your baby on your chest for the first time, it’s like the rest of the world melts away,” she said.
Nita is looking forward to every part of this new chapter, from caring for a newborn to eventually bringing Maxwell on tour. “It’s going to be amazing, chaotic, and exciting, and we wouldn’t have it any other way,” she said.
Nita and Josh got married in 2024 and announced their pregnancy in January. Meanwhile, Alice Cooper has announced that 22-year-old guitarist Anna Cara will fill in for Nita on tour while she takes maternity leave.
