Littleton Auctions postponed the sale of live recording tapes following a legal injunction from the band.
A 1997 Epiphone guitar once owned by Noel Gallagher fetched £12,000 at an Oasis memorabilia auction in Worcestershire. Offered by the son of former band sound engineer Huw Richards, the auction included several other items, such as a touring rain jacket and framed platinum discs that brought £2,000 each, an early demo tape that sold for £3,600, and leather shoes owned by Gallagher that fetched £1,200. Conversely, a baby grand piano featured in the artwork for the “Supersonic” single failed to sell.
The event was marked by a legal dispute after Oasis filed an injunction to stop the sale of “The Desk Tapes,” a collection of live show recordings, soundchecks, and rehearsals valued between £1.2 million and £1.6 million. Littleton Auctions removed the tapes from the event, with seller Owain Richards confirming that the auction for the audio collection has been postponed until the legal matter with the band is resolved.
