Oasis recently held five reunion concerts in their hometown of Manchester, England, raising thousands of dollars to support local music venues. The Manchester City Council announced that around $320,000 will be allocated to help smaller clubs in the area.
Councillor Bev Craig emphasized the importance of grassroots venues, saying, “While the biggest gigs in arenas and parks get a lot of attention, they rely on smaller venues to help artists grow.” She noted that many grassroots venues across the country are facing challenges, and the council wants to ensure they benefit from the success of larger events.
In addition to the Oasis concerts, funds were also raised through performances by other popular artists like Fontaines D.C., Billie Eilish, Charli XCX, and Olivia Rodrigo. This initiative highlights the city’s commitment to supporting the local music scene and ensuring that smaller venues can thrive.
