Official Artist Store Launched For Nick Drake

A new, dedicated storefront for enigmatic late singer-songwriter Nick Drake has launched. A message on the page—which plays a snippet of Drake performing live alongside footage of a slightly-ajar window—reads: “Something is coming, sign up to be the first to hear.”

Although he died at just 26 in 1974, Drake’s legacy has cemented him as one of the most beloved artists of his generation. He released three albums during his lifetime: 1969’s Five Leaves Left, 1971’s Bryter Layter, and 1972’s Pink Moon. Multiple posthumous albums of his back catalogue have also been released.

Drake has been cited as an influence by the likes of Kate Bush, Aimee Mann, Beck, and The Cure’s Robert Smith. He carefully crafted his spare sound over the course of his career—his final album, Pink Moon, features just his voice, acoustic guitar and a single piano overdub on the title track. Engineer John Wood, who worked closely with Drake on the album, shared: “He was very determined to make this very stark, bare record. He definitely wanted it to be him more than anything. And I think, in some ways, Pink Moon is probably more like Nick is than the other two records.”

It’s unclear what exactly the “something coming” is from Drake’s camp. In 2023, author Richard Morton Jack published the first biography of Drake authorized by his family and estate, Nick Drake: The Life. It drew on extensive original research and interviews with Drake’s family, friends and musical collaborators. It included over 75 archival photos, and included a foreword from the late singer-songwriter’s sister, actress Gabrielle Drake.

Check out the new official Nick Drake store now.
