Blink-182 became a surprise topic of discussion between Baltimore Orioles announcers Kevin Brown and Ben McDonald during a recent game against the San Diego Padres.
In the video below, Brown was stunned when McDonald said he had never heard of the band. Brown says in response to this discovery, “Are you kidding me?!” McDonald replies, “Sounds like a fighter jet to me.”
McDonald then says he probably knows some songs. This then leads to Brown to name “All The Small Things.” McDonald tells Brown to sing it for him, which he obliges, but then McDonald playfully says, “Okay, don’t sing it anymore.”
Brown then notes that Tom DeLonge often attends Padres games and is a notable fan of the MLB team. However, Brown just can’t let it go that McDonald has no Blink-182 knowledge.
“‘I Miss You,’ you don’t know that one?” Brown asks. McDonald says, “I don’t think so. I mean, I might if I can hear the song.” This leads Brown to say, “Tom has this very distinct nasally voice.”
And then, magic happens, with Brown singing the classic “I Miss You” lyric, “Where are you? And I’m so sorry.”
Apparently, that was what it took for McDonald to recognize Blink-182. To quote MLB Life’s Instagram caption when sharing the clip below, “He hit him with the ‘WHERE ARE YOUUU’”
Of course, Blink-182 recently reunited with DeLonge and is currently in the middle of a world tour. The European leg of that tour kicks off on September 2 in Glasgow and wraps on October 15 in Manchester. A full list of upcoming tour dates is below.
