Osbourne Family Returning to TV, But Ozzy’s Nervous About It

The Osbournes are back in a new series for the BBC chronicling Ozzy and Sharon’s move from the U.S. to the U.K. There’s a problem, though: Ozzy is quite nervous about the whole ordeal.

According to a press release from the BBCHome to Roost will highlight Ozzy and Sharon’s move back to their native U.K., as well as Sharon’s 70th birthday and daughter Kelly Osbourne’s pregnancy. (Kelly recently gave birth to a baby boy fathered by Slipknot’s Sid Wilson.) Home to Roost will be a ten-part series with each episode being about 30 minutes.

Obviously, this isn’t the first time Ozzy, Sharon and their children have dipped their toes into reality television. The family achieved great fame thanks to the MTV reality series The Osbournes, which ran for four seasons from 2002-2005. It’s that level of fame that concerns Ozzy about doing another reality show.

U.K.’s The Mirror quoted Ozzy saying, “There is rock and roll fame, which is pretty intense, but that Osbourne level was just unbelievable. The kids paid for it. They all ended up doing drugs. Jack got clean and sober on that show, Kelly messed up on that show, I was messed up and Sharon got cancer.”

The move back to the U.K. comes following Sharon’s departure from the CBS daytime talk show The Talk. Sharon left her hosting duties after 11 years on show due to various accusations of her using racist and homophobic language on the set. These accusations surfaced following a heated exchange on the show’s March 10, 2021 episode between Sharon and fellow co-host Sheryl Underwood where Osbourne was defending Piers Morgan following his remarks about Meghan Markle. Morgan claimed Markle was lying about being suicidal and dealing with racism as a member of the British Royal Family. Following her exit, Sharon reportedly received a payday between $5-10 million from CBS.

The Mirror quoted Ozzy about Sharon’s professional issues in relation to Home to Roost. He said, “My wife sort of dropped something on me that the BBC are doing The Osbournes returning to England. I said, ‘We are not having all that again.’ But she said it is only for a bit. It gave Sharon a new career. She has become the television person in our family.”

Ozzy added, “Poor old Sharon. She’s been through the mill of it. All I can tell you is that if my wife was slightly racist I would tell you. She’s possibly the most unracist person I’ve ever met. I am not just saying that. I mean, it’s still an unpleasant issue. It’s one of those things once you’re accused of it, people tar you with that brush and it’s very hard to shake off.”
