It’s not every day that a band with over 30 years of history takes the time to chat about their journey. That’s exactly what happened when Raine Maida, lead vocalist and founding member of Our Lady Peace, called in to talk with Markus. They covered everything from the band’s start in 1995 to their evolution through ten studio albums, new songs, early demos, a unique music documentary, and even the role of AI in their Spiritual Machines universe. For longtime fans and newcomers alike, it’s an exciting time to explore OLP’s legacy and what’s next.
One reason the band continues to thrive is its solid lineup. Today’s members blend founding roots with longtime collaborators: Raine Maida (lead vocals, rhythm guitar, acoustic guitar since 1992), Duncan Coutts (bass, backing vocals since 1995), Steve Mazur (lead guitar, keyboards, backing vocals since 2002), and Jason Pierce (drums, percussion since 2014). Each member brings continuity and a collaborative spirit that shapes the band’s modern sound.
Despite ten studio albums, Our Lady Peace shows no signs of slowing down. In the last two years, they’ve released three new songs: “Sound The Alarm” (2024), “I Wanna Be Your Drug” (2025), and “No Angels in This Town” (2025). “Sound The Alarm” and “I Wanna Be Your Drug” are now part of their live set, mixing nostalgia with fresh material.
Currently, the band is on tour with The Verve Pipe, which started on March 5th in Chicago and runs through April 4th in McKee Rocks, PA. West Coast dates will be announced soon.
A unique documentary is also in the works, told through the eyes of a superfan who has seen OLP over 100 times. This personal perspective promises to add emotional depth to the band’s story.
