Ozzy Osbourne will receive a posthumous Birmingham Lord Mayor’s Award.

Ozzy Osbourne will posthumously receive the Lord Mayor’s Award from his hometown of Birmingham, England. His family will accept the award during a ceremony on Wednesday, which is also Ozzy’s birthday.

The Lord Mayor’s Award honors “outstanding achievement or exceptional service to the City and people of Birmingham,” according to the Birmingham City Council. Ozzy grew up in Birmingham and co-founded the legendary band Black Sabbath there with Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward.

Earlier this year, Black Sabbath received Birmingham’s Freedom of the City award in June. This recognition came just before their reunion and farewell concert, “Back to the Beginning,” which took place on July 5 at Villa Park in Birmingham.

Sadly, Ozzy passed away on July 22. This award is a fitting tribute to his legacy and impact on music and his hometown. Fans around the world remember him as the iconic Prince of Darkness.
