Monowise Ltd, the company that manages Ozzy Osbourne’s rights, has filed a trademark application to turn “Back to the Beginning,” Ozzy’s final concert, into an annual tribute show. They have started this process in the U.S. and plan to do the same in the UK. The U.S. documents describe the event as a live musical performance while also protecting product rights.
The first “Back to the Beginning” show took place on July 5 at Villa Park in Birmingham, England. Ozzy performed on stage with the original lineup of Black Sabbath one last time, featuring Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward. This concert was especially emotional as it was Ozzy’s final performance before his passing on July 22.
Jack Osbourne shared a touching moment before the show, saying, “Before he went onstage, I ran back into the dressing room and I just gave him a big hug. I just kissed him.” He watched the concert alongside his brother, and they both shed tears, not out of sadness, but because they knew it was the last time they would see their father perform.
The event raised millions for Acorns Children’s Hospice, Birmingham Children’s Hospital, and Cure Parkinson’s, an organization close to Ozzy’s heart since he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2019.
That night, other metal legends like Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, and Slayer also took the stage. Fans enjoyed video messages from stars like Jack Black, Ricky Gervais, and Dolly Parton between performances. It was a night to remember, celebrating Ozzy’s incredible legacy in music.
