Ozzy & Sharon Osbourne are Moving Back to the U.K. Because They ‘Don’t Feel Safe’ in the U.S.

Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne have said they’re moving back to the U.K. after living in California for nearly 40 years. One of the reasons they’re leaving is due to safety concerns.

In a new interview with Consequence, Ozzy says, “To be honest with you, if I had my way, I’d stay in America. I’m American now… to be honest with you, I don’t want to go back. F— that.”

However, the move back to the U.K. came about after Sharon’s departure from The Talk. Sharon left her hosting duties on The Talk after 11 years on the CBS daytime talk show due to various accusations of her using racist and homophobic language on the set. These accusations surfaced following a heated exchange on the show’s March 10, 2021 episode between Sharon and fellow co-host Sheryl Underwood where Osbourne was defending Piers Morgan following his remarks about Meghan Markle. Morgan claimed Markle was lying about being suicidal and dealing with racism as a member of the British Royal Family. Following her exit, Sharon reportedly received a payday between $5-10 million from CBS.

Sharon told Consequence, “California is not what it once was. When I first came here, I thought I was in heaven. In the ‘70s, if you loved music, this was the place to be. It’s not that hub anymore. It’s not exciting anymore. It hasn’t gone sideways, it’s gone down. It’s not a fun place to live. It’s dangerous here. Every big city’s got crime, but I don’t feel safe here. Neither does Ozzy.”

In August, Ozzy told The Observer on the issue of mass shootings in the U.S., “Everything’s f—ing ridiculous there. I’m fed up with people getting killed every day. God knows how many people have been shot in school shootings.” He added referencing 2017’s Route 91 Harvest tragedy, “And there was that mass shooting in Vegas at that concert… It’s f—ing crazy.”
