Pennsylvania’s Official Winter Forecast is Here

Winter is coming, bringing the holiday spirit and cooler weather. While northern states will feel the chill more than those in the south, winter is definitely different from summer across the U.S. So, what’s the winter weather forecast looking like?

The winter solstice, marking the official start of winter in the Northern Hemisphere, falls on December 21, 2025, at 10:03 A.M. (EST). This day also has the least sunlight, but after the solstice, the days will gradually get longer until summer.

Now, let’s dive into the winter weather predictions. Forecasters expect a La Niña pattern, which will influence our weather from November 2025 to January 2026. This means many areas in the U.S. can expect warmer-than-average temperatures. The northern states along the U.S.-Canada border might see a mix, but no region is expected to experience cooler temperatures.

When it comes to rain, the Pacific Northwest and Upper Midwest are likely to get more precipitation, while southern states may see below-average rainfall. In Pennsylvania, we can expect warmer temperatures this winter, with an equal chance of more or less rain.

A warmer winter sounds pretty good, right? So, gear up for the early winter months ahead, and enjoy the music and festivities that come with the season!
