Peter Hammill, the talented English prog musician, is set to release a new collection of recordings later this year. Titled *The Charisma & Virgin Recordings 1971 – 1986*, this super deluxe box set includes all 13 albums he released with Charisma and Virgin, all newly remastered from the original master tapes.
The box set features new 5.1 and stereo mixes of *The Future Now* and *pH7*, created by Stephen W Tayler. Fans can also look forward to rare BBC sessions, live recordings, and a Blu-ray disc with previously unreleased European television performances. The collection will be available digitally and hits the shelves on September 26 through Virgin.
The 18-CD set kicks off with *Fool’s Mate*, Hammill’s first solo album after Van der Graaf Generator. It continues with *Chameleon in the Shadow of the Night*, which includes tracks from a July 1973 BBC Radio John Peel session. Other highlights include *The Silent Corner and the Empty Stage*, featuring recordings from a February 1974 Peel session, and *In Camera*, which has a September 1974 Peel session.
The collection also includes *Nadir’s Big Chance*, *Over*, and *The Future Now*, along with live recordings from The All Souls Unitarian Church in Kansas City. The 1980s are represented by *A Black Box*, *Sitting Targets*, and the compilation *The Love Songs*, which features re-recordings and an instrumental version of “Just Good Friends.” Hammill’s final albums for Charisma and Virgin are *Skin* and *And Close as This*, both released in 1986.
