Peter Hook will be at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony for Joy Division and New Order, but he won’t be joining his former bandmates on stage. In a recent interview, Hook made it clear that he won’t stand with New Order, saying, “No. Not after what they did to me and my family, no.” He added, “I won’t stand with them,” and when asked about any potential issues at the ceremony, he simply stated, “I couldn’t give a s*. I’m not bothered. You’ve got to have morals.”
Hook left New Order in 2007, and their relationship has been rocky ever since, even leading to legal disputes. He believes that his former bandmates should not continue using the New Order name. “It’s very sad, but that’s what happened,” he said. “They decided to take the New Order name. I felt it was wrong, and I still think it’s wrong.”
Looking ahead to the induction on November 14, Hook is not hopeful for a reconciliation. He thinks New Order would need to do more than just a one-time reunion. “They’d have to reach out and try and form some kind of relationship,” he explained. “You can’t just go ‘truce for the night’ after what we’ve been through.”
Despite the tension, Hook acknowledges that “life is full of surprises.” He pointed out that even Noel and Liam Gallagher managed to reunite Oasis. “Maybe Liam and Noel could be the intermediaries that you’re looking for,” he suggested. As for New Order, they have not yet commented on their attendance at the induction ceremony.
