Get ready for a birthday bash at the Delaware River Waterfront! Philly Skates Free is happening on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at Independence Blue Cross RiverRink Winterfest. From 11 AM to 11 PM, everyone can enjoy free skating and skate rentals. This celebration kicks off America’s 250th year with a fun, birthday-themed day on the waterfront.
Hosted by the Delaware River Waterfront Corporation, Philly Skates Free is all about bringing the community together. The goal is to make the Waterfront a welcoming spot for everyone. As President and CEO Joseph A. Forkin says, it’s about creating a moment that feels like Philadelphia.
Throughout the day, guests can enjoy beautiful river views and cozy winter vibes. At noon, there will be a special cake-cutting ceremony with free birthday cake while supplies last. From 12 to 2 PM, families can enjoy free face painting, making it a great time for kids.
As night falls, the Lodge will feature DJ entertainment from 6 to 9 PM, along with a happy hour from 6 to 10 PM and special birthday menu items. Food and drinks will be available from popular Winterfest vendors like Chickie & Pete’s and Philly Taco.
There will also be fun activities throughout the day, including a chance to sign the Philly Phambassador pledge and enter a prize raffle. Plus, Jacquin’s will offer free samples and giveaways.
While skating is free, you need to reserve tickets online at RiverRink.com. Each email can reserve up to four tickets, which include skating admission and rentals. Don’t miss out on this exciting day of winter fun! For more info and to grab your tickets, check out RiverRink.com.
