Pizza Hut to Close Multiple Locations Due to Low Sales

It’s tough to say goodbye! Pizza Hut is planning to close over 200 underperforming locations across the U.S. The parent company, Yum! Brands, Inc., announced that these closures will start in the first half of 2026.

Chief Financial Officer Ranjith Roy shared that this move is part of a strategy to help the brand grow. The plan includes fresh marketing, updated technology, and new franchise agreements. This decision comes after Pizza Hut experienced a 3% decline in sales during the fourth quarter of 2025. In contrast, other Yum! Brands like Taco Bell and KFC saw a 7% increase during the same period.

While Pizza Hut will close about 250 locations out of more than 20,000 in the U.S., the company believes this will have a positive impact overall. Chris Turner, CEO of Yum! Brands, expressed confidence in Pizza Hut’s future, stating, “Pizza Hut is a beloved global brand and industry innovator that connects people through the joy of pizza.”

Fans of Pizza Hut can still enjoy their favorite pies, as the brand remains committed to serving customers and evolving for the future.
