Prince fans will be getting a new album of previously unreleased material from the late music icon this July.
Due out July 30, Welcome 2 America will be released in a variety of formats and track variations. The standard album contains 12 tracks, among them is “Stand Up and B Strong,” a Soul Asylum cover.
In a statement, Prince’s estate said, “Recorded in 2010 before the Welcome 2 America Tour, the studio album ‘Welcome 2 America’ documents Prince’s concerns, hopes, and visions for a shifting society, presciently foreshadowing an era of political division, disinformation, and a renewed fight for racial justice.”
Expanded editions feature a Blu-Ray disc of Prince’s April 28, 2011 performance at The Forum in Inglewood, Calif. The setlist for that performance contains a number of covers including Janet Jackson’s “What Have You Done For Me Lately,” Bob Dylan’s “Make You Feel My Love” and Wild Cherry’s “Play That Funky Music.”
Currently, the album’s title track is now available for streaming and download on all major digital platforms here and can be heard below.
Welcome 2 America is available for pre-order on all major digital platforms here, while physical copies can be pre-ordered at Prince.com.
