Queens of the Stone Age kicked off their North American Catacombs Tour on October 10 at New York’s Beacon Theatre. This unique tour pairs the band with local orchestras in historic theaters across the country. Each show features fresh arrangements of their songs, creating a one-of-a-kind experience for fans.
The band described the tour as a series of special one-night-only performances in some of North America’s most iconic venues. They’ve crafted all-new arrangements for these shows, enhanced by orchestral ensembles. The result promises to be a rare and intimate experience, unlike any previous QOTSA tour.
The concert is divided into three acts. In the first act, frontman Josh Homme performs solo with just a work light. The second act ramps up the intensity, while the third act transforms into a high-energy rock show.
On June 13, the band released a five-track EP titled *Alive in the Catacombs*, showcasing this new sound. The addition of string sections brings fresh life to songs like “Running Joke/Paper Machete” and “Kalopsia.”
Upcoming stops on the tour include Santa Barbara’s Arlington Theatre on November 8, followed by shows at Davies Symphony Hall in San Francisco, LA’s Dolby Theatre, Austin’s Bass Concert Hall, and wrapping up at the Saenger Theatre in New Orleans.
Queens of the Stone Age will also perform at London’s Royal Albert Hall on October 29, along with other European dates. After returning to the U.S., they’ll join The Black Crowes and Neon Trees at Las Vegas’ SEMA Fest on November 7. Fans can find tickets and more information about these shows online.
