Skid Row’s Rachel Bolan has released his debut solo album, titled *Gargoyle of the Garden State*. This marks his first solo project, but he has brought along some friends. His Skid Row bandmates Scotti Hill, Dave “Snake” Sabo, and Rob Hammersmith all make appearances on the album. Additionally, Slipknot’s Corey Taylor and Extreme’s Nuno Bettencourt are featured as guests.
One standout track is “Big Stick,” which has a political edge and references the Ramones. Bolan describes the song as a reflection of his thoughts during a chaotic time. He also includes a cover of Oasis’ “Rock ‘n’ Roll Star.” Bolan admits he didn’t know much about the Gallagher brothers when he first heard the song. He interpreted the line “Tonight I’m a rock ‘n’ roll star” as a reminder of life beyond the stage. He recalls a moment when a fan was disappointed by his casual offstage look, asking why he wasn’t dressed in his usual rock attire.
*Gargoyle of the Garden State* is available now.
