Record Store Day is always full of treats for music fans across genres, but 2024 is gearing up to be one of its biggest years yet. The annual celebration of the culture of indie record stores will be held this year on April 20th, and promises exclusive releases from Elton John, Queen, Ringo Starr, Frank Zappa, Keane, Jessie Ware, Marianne Faithfull, and many more.

From Elton John, fans will be able to purchase a 50th Anniversary Edition of the album Caribou as a 2LP set on 180G limited edition sky blue vinyl. The set will include the original album plus a newly compiled LP of bonus tracks. Caribou was Elton’s eighth studio album and his fourth U.S. number one record.

After a recent boost following its inclusion in an Olivia Wilde-directed Amazon ad, Queen are releasing their 1982 track “Cool Cat” as a limited edition 7″ pink vinyl single. The Hot Space hidden gem was penned and performed solely by Freddie Mercury and John Deacon, and is now being released with a never-before-heard instrumental version as the vinyl’s B-side.

Zappa For President, the 2016 compilation album from Frank Zappa, will be receiving its first-ever vinyl release this RSD ahead of the 2024 U.S. presidential election. Staying on theme, the record will be available as a white vinyl with red & blue splatter. The compilation features a number of Zappa’s politically-themed works, including “Overture To ‘Uncle Sam’” and “If I Was President.”

Ringo Starr is also joining in on the festivities with an EP of brand new music. “Crooked Boy” features four new tracks from Starr written and produced by Songwriter’s Hall Of Famer Linda Perry. Ringo’s trademark vocals and drumming will be accompanied by guitar work from Nick Valensi of The Strokes on every track. The EP will be available exclusively at participating Record Store Day retailers on black and white marble custom vinyl.
