Red Hot Chili Peppers Bassist Unveils Debut Solo Album Featuring Collaborations with Radiohead and Nick Cave

Flea, the bassist of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, is set to release his debut solo album, *Honora*, on March 27 through Nonesuch Records. The album features contributions from Thom Yorke and Nick Cave, who lend their voices to the project. *Honora* includes six original songs and four covers.

At 63 years old, Flea collaborated with saxophonist Josh Johnson before reaching out to Thom Yorke. Flea shared, “Deantoni and I played what became ‘Traffic Lights’ the first day. Something about it reminded me of Atoms for Peace, so I sent it to Thom. Just knowing him, I thought it would be a rhythm and a sensibility that he would relate to. And I was right, he did.”

Throughout the album, Flea plays both trumpet and bass. He is joined by Anna Butterss on bass, Jeff Parker on guitar, Deantoni Parks on drums, and Mauro Refosco on percussion. Nate Walcott from Bright Eyes also makes an appearance.

This project marks a return to Flea’s roots. He studied jazz trumpet before his rock career took off. While filming *My Own Private Idaho* in 1991, he expressed a desire to create an instrumental album filled with grooves and melodies.

Flea’s last solo work, *Helen Burns*, was released in 2012, with proceeds benefiting the Silverlake Conservatory of Music.

To support the album, Flea will embark on a tour starting on May 7 at Thalia Hall in Chicago. He will perform in cities like Toronto, Montreal, New York, Washington D.C., and Los Angeles, before heading to Europe for shows in Berlin, Amsterdam, London, and Paris, wrapping up on May 28 at Alhambra in Paris.

Tickets go on sale January 23 at 10 a.m., with a pre-sale for European fans starting on January 20.
