Reneé Rapp Announces New Album ‘Bite Me’

Reneé Rapp has shared her first new single since 2023. It’s called “Leave Me Alone.”

The new track is the first offering from the singer-songwriter’s forthcoming sophomore LP, Bite Me, due out August 1st via Interscope. It comes accompanied by a new video that follows the artist on a rowdy night out that turns into a surreal pillow fight. The release arrives just ahead of Rapp’s debut live award show performance at the American Music Awards this weekend.

Bite Me follows Rapp’s debut studio album Snow Angel, released in 2023. That project earned the largest first-week sales of the year for a female artist on their debut album. That same year, Rapp also reprised her breakout Mean Girls: The Musical role as Regina George in a big-screen adaptation of the Broadway hit, where she starred opposite Angourie Rice. The film’s soundtrack featured a new original song with Megan Thee Stallion, “Not My Fault,” which the duo performed together during Rapp’s Saturday Night Live debut in 2024.

The song also marks Rapp’s first solo release since she departed HBO Max’s The Sex Lives Of College Girls, where she starred as the no-nonsense Leighton, a sorority girl and secret math whiz navigating her (initially secret) identity as a lesbian. Rapp confirmed her departure back in 2023 and appeared in only a handful of episodes in the show’s third season, which aired last year.

A press release for Bite Me explains this era for Rapp is “about reclaiming your personal narrative” and “encourages listeners to embrace every facet of their personality, the chaotic and the confident, and to find strength in being authentically, unapologetically themselves.”
