Rivers Cuomo, the lead singer of Weezer, has written songs for several big names, including Panic! at the Disco, CeeLo Green, Charli XCX, and Cold. His work spans pop, soul, and rock, making waves on playlists and streaming platforms.
One of his notable collaborations was on “Victorious” with Brendon Urie and a team that included CJ Baran, Mike Viola, White Sea, Alex DeLeon, and Jake Sinclair. This track is featured on Panic! at the Disco’s fifth album, *Death of a Bachelor*, which was produced by Jake Sinclair and Suzy Shinn. Panic! at the Disco’s earlier album, *A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out*, went double platinum.
Cuomo also teamed up with CeeLo Green for the song “Anyway.” The writing sessions included Eric Frederic, Ross Golan, and Josh Alexander, while Wallpaper and Daniel Ledinsky took care of the production. The song has a catchy, R&B vibe.
Charli XCX shared her excitement about working with Rivers on “Hanging Around.” She said, “It was really cool working with Rivers. I was really surprised when he wanted to work with me. He followed me on Twitter, and I was like, ‘Cool! Maybe this can happen!’” They wrote two songs together in his backyard studio.
Scooter Ward, the lead singer of Cold, reached out to Rivers after noticing that “Stupid Girl” had a similar sound to Weezer. Ward had toured with Weezer and became friends with the band before asking for help on the track from *Year of the Spider*.
Cuomo’s collaborations showcase his talent for creating catchy hooks and pop structures across different genres. Each project brought together unique teams in the studio, highlighting his versatility as a songwriter.
