A historic duet featuring Judas Priest and the late Ozzy Osbourne is set to hit the airwaves soon. Rob Halford shared the exciting news on Full Metal Jackie’s show. The track is a fresh take on Black Sabbath’s classic “War Pigs,” with Halford and Ozzy trading lines in an incredible duet. Halford expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to collaborate with Ozzy.
The idea for the duet came about when Sharon Osbourne heard Judas Priest’s version of the song. The recording happened before Ozzy’s passing on July 22. His last performance took place just weeks earlier at Black Sabbath’s Back to the Beginning show in Birmingham’s Villa Park.
Judas Priest is currently finalizing the artwork and details for the release, but they haven’t announced a specific date yet. The band’s first version of “War Pigs” was released on July 2 as a tribute to Ozzy, who they missed at his final show due to a commitment at the Scorpions’ 60th anniversary concert in Germany. This new version of “War Pigs” marks a special collaboration between these legendary British metal bands.
Halford reflected on Ozzy’s last performance, calling it extraordinary and a heartfelt farewell. He praised Ozzy for his kindness, energetic stage presence, and the lasting impact he had on music and fans, describing him as a brother.
Judas Priest kicked off their North American tour on September 16, with Alice Cooper, and will continue until October 26, wrapping up in Houston, Texas. Halford is also working on a Judas Priest documentary co-directed by Tom Morello. He noted that the upcoming “War Pigs” duet holds deep emotional significance, especially after Ozzy’s passing. Stay tuned for more updates!
